Rubicon

100 x 160 cm

Nominated for Jackson's International Art Prize 2025. London, England.

I feel like there is a vulnerability to the solo female standing alone in a large space - not in the sense of being weak - but in the sense that the viewer can connect with a feeling of the fragility of life within her image.

I’ve named this painting ‘Rubicon’ because, for me, the painting represents a moment of change. She is on the verge of ‘crossing the rubicon’ into a new and uncharted part of her life. The path she has walked through the field lies behind her and she looks into the middle distance of her future.
